COVID-19 Recovery, Indigenous Awareness & Education
We certainly all know about the challenges presented to us over the past few years. As we begin to look ahead to new normals and celebrate the arrival of Spring, we look forward to hearing from Andrew talk about COVID-19 recovery and opportunities in both his portfolio and on campus. We will also learn more about the Indigenous awareness and education work that Student Housing and Community Services is doing in partnership with Musqueam.Bio
Andrew has worked at UBC since 1988 holding a variety of positions including Director of UBC Food Services, Managing Director of Student Housing and Hospitality Services and his current AVP role.In his current role he has system-wide responsibly for the ancillary operations of Student Housing, Conference & Accommodation, Food, Bookstore, Parking, Child Care and Campus Mail.
Along with operational responsibilities for these business units, which generate annual revenues of over $250 million and includes asset responsibilities of over $1.6B, he and his team are in the process of executing a growth plan to add 7000 new student housing bed spaces, 240 new child care spaces as well as significant culinary enhancements. Currently the student housing operations are the largest of any Canadian university, providing 14,130 bed spaces and enhancing the academic and social experience for students of UBC and supporting the creation of a strong and fulsome campus community at both the UBC Okanagan and Vancouver campuses.
