SJC Reflects on 25 Years

SJC FUN FACTS

Starting in September 2021, St. John’s College embarked on a year-long celebration and reflection of its establishment twenty-five years ago – a significant milestone for any unit. Through September 2021 to November 2022, there will be a year of events, including a summer garden party and wrapping up with our legacy event in November 2022.

Our twenty-fifth anniversary year is a time of celebration as well as reflection –  honouring the past 25 years and how they will be shape the next twenty-five years; our place as a steward of global citizenship; and our place here on the unceded territory of Musqueam. St. John’s College has been a home for scholars from around the world to learn from one another, share conversation and partake in collegial debate over a meal reflecting our motto of The World Around Our Table.

The College has had good years, challenging years, and in the last few years during the pandemic, we have been tested like never before. We remain a resilient community that cares for one another – unique, cherished and precious.

Who we are now is based on the journey of the 25 years of who we have been. The lasting bonds, multicultural exchange and understanding created during our community members’ stay at SJC are taken out into the world when they leave for new journeys and we hope the spirit of SJC, and of global engagement and being a good global citizen, of stepping up to help each other in times of need, travels with them.
