    Move-in

Students and staff move to new site in stages between 2028 and 2029 as buildings are completed.

In August 2024, UBC and the Province of BC announced a major partnership to build a new student residence complex in the Lower Mall Precinct on the current site of St. John’s College. The Lower Mall Precinct (LMP) project will address the growing demand for student housing by building over 1,500 graduate student focused beds.

This $560 million project, with $300 million provided by the BC government, is the largest provincial contribution to a building project in UBC’s history. With this site redevelopment, SJC, in partnership with Student Housing and Community Services, will grow our programming and fellowship for more graduate students as well as the wider UBC community.

The design of the LMP project was developed in collaboration with  Ryder Architecture + 3XNUBC Properties TrustUBC Campus + Community Planning, UBC Student Housing and Community Services, and St. John’s College.
